What’s The Story About That Name?

I have been in the “workforce” for 40 years (give or take…). My best count is that I have worked for at least 13 different organizations, not to mention various interstitial consulting/entrepreneurial efforts, and at least 5 different career paths. After all that experience, I have come to two realizations:

  • I like to work at my own pace and do things my own way.

  • I am not particularly good at selling.

Unfortunately, those two traits do not tend to work well together. But fortunately, I do keep looking forward. No reason I can’t find the next thing I do well.

I few months ago I was scanning through YouTube looking at “Side Hustles” and came across Self-Publishing. I started playing around with it and realized that this incorporates a lot of what I do well AND like to do! Let’s give it a try.

Jump forward several weeks and I have composed my first journal and am ready to post to Amazon. There is a prompt for “Author”. I thought that a journal really doesn’t have an author, so I needed to come up with the entity that is publishing the book. As I sat in my office (the basement), I looked around for inspiration. I glanced at a piece of art my wife made for me when we were dating. It is several lines from a Lyle Lovett song.

Look, I understand too little too late

I realize there are things that you say and do you can never take back

What would you be if you didn’t even try, you have to try

So after a lot of thought, I’d like to reconsider

Please, …if it’s not too late, make it a CHEESEburger.

There it was, the name of my new venture!
