The Next Book…
I wouldn’t exactly call creating journals an artform, but it does take some thought. The thing is to figure out what kind of journal you want to make. There are a few of factors to consider. First, would anyone want to buy it. Turns out there are myriad tools and services for researching what is already out there and what sells. Second, once you pick a topical area, do you have anything to add to the party. Third, is how do you want to structure it. I guess this is where the “art” comes in.
The first five titles NTL Publishing has produced have all come from my head, things I know or things I am interested in. This time we are branching out to an area where my wife is the expert, food. In almost 24 years of marriage, I have learned a thing or two about food and cooking, but I am still a mere novice compared to my wife’s side of the family. So with her guidance, we are puttng together a food journal.
Now, most existing food journals are either about recipes or counting calories. We are going in a different direction. This will be a journal about documenting all of those meals that are worth remembering, for good or bad reasons.
Our philosophy at NTL Publishing is to produce products that act as a second brain to help you remember those things that are worth remembering. With this upcoming journal we will provide the prompts to make it easy to capture all the pertinent facts about family meals, dinner parties or restaurants that you don’t want to forget.
As with some of our earlier titles, this one will have a companion Online Edition to give you flexibility in how you choose to deploy your second brain. (More about Online Editions in an upcoming post.)
Right now we have two possible titles:
Meals to Remember: A Journal of Remarkable Food
Remarkable Meals: Food Worth Remembering
